A sincere desire to meet customer’s needs and expectations is the secret to Ausramp Engineering’s success in the Australian and International marketplace. From their modern workshops in Melbourne, they have the ability to get the job done.In 1994, Ausramp founder Greg Brown realised the need for a light weight loading ramp for the earthmoving and civil construction industries. With a background in aluminium fabrication, Greg designed a unique channel profile from aluminium, capable of supporting this type of heavy equipment, and began production in a farm shed in Somerville Victoria. The ramps, able to be loaded and handled by one person, proved to be just what the contractors were looking for.
Earthmoving distributors soon saw the ramps as an ideal compliment to their products, and began stocking them for their customers around Australia. Success spilled over to international markets with a New Zealand distributor being appointed. Seventeen (17) years on, Ausramp is now recognised as the leading ramp supplier in the Australian market.
With requests for other products, Ausramp Pty Ltd was incorporated in 1999 and began to design attachments, boat trailers and trench shields as well as new loading ramps from the aluminium extrusions Greg had developed.
The first aluminium plant trailer, designed for a “Bobcat” branded excavator, was made in 2000.
Market Research showed how important the tare weight of the trailer had become to the hire industry and contractors. Having a trailer that could carry a piece of earthmoving equipment to site, behind a utility or family car, was now a reality with these light weight alternatives. Marketed as Auswide Trailers, the brand has set the benchmark for aluminium trailers across Australia with its high quality, design and service abilities. Most leading hire companies around Australia whose reputation relies on their supplier’s products, now have Auswide trailers in their fleets.
Ausramp Pty Ltd today, employs 19 staff in its Carrum Downs workshops in total. A team of three qualified engineers, lead the research and development process of new plant trailer models now producing six certified models able to carry equipment up to 3.8 tonne in weight (4500kg GVM). Current facilities include state-of-the-art aluminium welding equipment, guillotines and press brakes, and an environmentally conscious spray booth. The trailers are engineered with a quality and finish that is second to none.
With strong community ties, Ausramp supports many local charity organisations, including youth sporting groups, youth employment programs and the Bush Nursing Association amongst others. The company has a philosophy of giving back to the community that has supported its growth.
